1860: in the household of his father, Asa B. McFann, in Chester township, Wabash Co, IN (pg 345). Vital Records: Marriage License, John D. McFann to Jennie Jarrett, issued 23 December 1889, Noble County Court, Albion IN. Obituaries Melvin O. McFann obituary. A scan of the obituary was sent to me by his granddaughter, Linda Trekell. Diaries Deaths Mentioned in the P. H. Bolinger Diary, 1881--1899, on the Wabash County, Indiana Genealogy web site. The page lists items found in the diary including this interesting item: "McFann, Mrs John P. buried 9-10-1887". Pictures:

Linda Trekell sent me a scan of this picture. Notes and Credits:1. John D. McFann's full date of birth was taken from the 1898 circular in his father's pension file. The year of his birth given in that document is 1854; the 1900 census gives the year of his birth as 1852. 2. The information on his first marriage, and the two children from it, came from Charles B. McFann Sr. According to the story as I remember it, his first wife drowned in a boat accident. I know of no corroborating evidence. 3. The names of John D. McFann's children, and their dates of birth and death, were supplied by Charles B. McFann Sr (his recollection). 4. Sources for the information on Asa B. McFann and Amanda Martin are on Asa B. McFann's Family Page. 5. Martha Jane Jarrett's date of birth, date of death, and place of death were supplied by Charles B. McFann Sr. Her place of birth was inferred from census records. |
