Notes and Credits:

1. Dates of birth for all the children were taken from the census records. Levi R. McFann's date of birth was taken from his biographical sketch the History of Butler County (cited above). His wife's maiden name and the date of the marriage were also taken from the History. The month and year of his marriage is corraborated by the 1870 census and by documents in his pension file. The History lists a Mary S. among his children instead of Stella M.; I have assumed that they are the same. The marriage of his daughter Maggie to William D. Armour is from the History; there is a grandson with last name Armour in Levi McFann's household in the 1910 census.

2. Sources for the information on his parents can be found on Nancy McClelland's Family Page.

3. The children's dates of birth, and the married names of all but Beryl, are given on the 1915 Questionaire in his pension file. Beryl's married name is given on other documents in the pension file.

4. Beryl Kiser's date of death is from the Social Security Death Index at rootsweb.

7. Descendants of Levi R. McFann include David Christy and Miles McFann, both descendants of Levi's son Harry H. McFann.

8. Levi Ralph McFann's date of death was given as 4 April 1927 in Harry H. McFann's 1928 Declaration for Pension and as 5 April 1927 on his 1930 Declaration for Pension.
