McFann, Division of Vital Statistics, Department of Health, State of Ohio, file no. 36119. A copy was obtained from the Ohio Historical Society. Cemetery Records: "McFanns burind in Vernon Cemetery, Lawrence County", Message 20 on GenForum's McFann Family Genealogy Forum, posted by Terry Turley. Includes Cemetery inscriptions for William D. McFann and wife Mary M.; and Archie A. McFann. Newspaper Items: Notice of marriage license issued to William McFann and Mary Ashley, Ironton Register, 24 November 1887. This item is listed on Abstracts of Obituaries, Death Notices, Etc. of Lawrence County (Ohio) People and Surrounding Counties and on Family Records - Marriages, both on the Lawrence Register web site. I do not have a copy of the original item. Notes and Credits:1. William's date of birth is given on the 1897 questionaire in his father's pension file as 15 April 1866. The cemetery inscription in Message 20 on GenForum's McFann Family Genealogy Forum gives his date of birth as 1865. His date of death is from the cemetery inscriptions. The dates of birth and death for his wife are from the 1900 census and the cemetery inscriptions. His wife's maiden name and the date of their marriage is from the newspaper item cited above. Dates of birth for the children are from the 1900 and 1910 census. 2. Message 20 on GenForum's McFann Family Genealogy Forum includes a cemetery inscription for Archie A. McFann, 1/25/1894--5/13/1937. The death certificate for Arch L. McFann gives the same date of death, but gives his date of birth as 13 May 1895. But the date of birth is probably an error because his age at death is given as 42 years, 3 months, and 19 days, which works out to be 25 January 1895. So I have listed his year of birth as 1894 or 1895. 3. The following information was supplied by Christy from her grandmother: William's middle name (Dempsey); the middle name (Madaline) of his wife, Mary Ashley; Mary Ashley's date of birth, given as Nov 1867, and her date of death, 20 June 1957; Dates of birth, death, and marriage for William's daughter Essie; information on Essie's descendants (not shown on this page); dates of birth and death for Willam's son Clarence: and information on the descendants of Clarence (not shown on this page). 4. Descendants of William McFann include Geri McFann, Diana (Dee) Smith Berk, Thelma Hankins, and Linda McFann, and Christy. |
