1850: in the household of his father, David McFann, Vernon Township, Scioto Co, OH (National Archives Microfilm M432, Roll 727, pg 287) Vital Records: Marriage Records of Scioto Co., Ohio 1803 - 1860 by Caryn R. Fuller Shoemaker and Betty J. Sisler Rudity (1987). Contains an extract of the Scioto County marriage record for Andrew J. McFann and Margaret Munyan. I thank Scioto County lookup volunteer Judith Burkhardt for sending me the information. Marriage license and record, James Patton to Sarah E. McFann, Lawrence County, OH, vol 14, pg 366. Marriage license and record, James Fleming to Ada McFann, Lawrence County, OH, vol 16, pg 135. I suspect that his is A. J.'s daughter Ada, although she would have to have been born 1876 or earlier. Death Certificate, Andrew J. McFann, Lawrence County, OH, file 10039. A copy of the record was obtained by Terry Turley. Death Certificate, Margaret McFann, Lawrence County, OH, file 4212. A copy of the record was obtained by Terry Turley. Death Certificate, David McFann, Lawrence County, OH, file 16355. A copy of the record was obtained by Terry Turley. Obituaries: Andrew J. McFann obituary, Morning Irontonian, Ironton, OH, 18 February 1913. (This obituary is on another web site). Cemetery Records: "McFanns burind in Vernon Cemetery, Lawrence County", Message 20 on GenForum's McFann Family Genealogy Forum, posted by Terry Turley. Includes Cemetery inscriptions for David McFann and wife Rachel, William D. McFann and wife Mary, Zie McFann and wife Annie. Pension Records: Civil War pension records for Andrew J. McFann, National Archives, WC 758943 Notes and Credits:1. Andrew J. McFann's death certificate idenifies his parents as David McFann and Catherine Scott. A copy of the record was obtained by Terry Turley. 2. Dates of birth and death for Andrew J. McFann, his wife, and their son, David, were taken from their death certificates. I thank Terry Terry Turley for extracting the information for me. Dates of birth for all of the children except Amaziah were given on the 1897 Questionaire in A. J. McFann's pension file. The questionaire gives David's year of birth as 1857. Cyrus may be the same person as Amaziah, since Cyrus does not appear in any of the census records and Amaziah appears between Jacob and William in age. 3. According to the 1900 census, Margaret McFann had 9 children, 7 of whom were still living. So one child is missing from the above list. 4. Richard Hughes, Judith May, and Terry McFann-Turley contributed to the information that is reported on this page. |
