Social Security Death Index, Family Tree Maker's Genealogy Site: Find Family. Contains a record for a Raymond McFann born 29 Nov 1906 and a Truman McFann born 22 January 1900. Notes and Credits:1. In writing this page I have relied on information obtained from the Marion County Court by Randy Williams. 2. William L. McFann's middle name and his date of birth were taken from the 1898 Circular in his father's pension file. The year of birth for William L. McFann and for his wife Elizabeth that are recorded in the 1900 Census are probably incorrect. 3. Truman McFann's date of birth was given in the 1900 Census as January 1900. His death record (cited above), as transcribed by Randy Williams, gives his date of birth as 11-1-1900. Since the 1900 census was enumerated in June of 1900, Truman would not have appeared if he had been born in November. So I have interpreted his date of birth as given in the death record as January 11 rather than November 1. The Social Security Death Index (cited above) has a record for a Truman McFann born 22 January 1900, died Dec 1965. So I have listed Truman's date of birth as either 11 or 22 January. 4. In the 1910 Census, it is reported that William L. McFann's wife has seven children, seven of whom are living. The birth records obtained from the Marion County Court by Randy Williams show a Lucie, born 2 April 1905, and a Doc, born 29 November 1906. There are seven children listed in the 1910 census, but there is no Doc and no Lucie among them. In the Social Security Death Index (cited above) I found a Raymond McFann born 29 Nov 1906. So I have concluded that Doc and Raymond are the same person. The daughter in the 1910 census whose name I interpreted as "Lottie" (it was difficult to read) could be the same person as Lucie, but I don't have enough evidence to make that guess. 5. Randy Williams reports that there are listings in the Marion County Register of Deaths for Fleata McFann and Tilda McFann, both died in 1911. 6. The strange name (Lople) of the last child listed above may be incorrect as a result of my not being able to decipher the 1920 census correctly. 7. Descendants of William L. McFann include: Michael S. McFann, who is the great grandson of Truman McFann. |
