Notes and Credits:

1. I am grateful to Randy Williams, a descendant of Alma Leona McFann, for contributing information that made this page possible. I also had help from Wetzel County lookup volunteer Mariana Zuelsdorf.

2. The following information was supplied by Randy Williams:
Alma Leona McFann's date of birth, date of death, and mother's maiden name were given on her death certificate obtained by Randy Williams from the Marion County Court. The death certificate gave her year of birth as 1871, but this could not possibly be correct since she was enumerated in the 1870 census. Her year of birth as calculated from the other census records varies from 1869 to 1871. Her father gave her date of birth in the 1898 Circular in his pension file as Jan 13, 1870. I have chosen to report 1870 as her year of birth. Randy Williams reported finding the date of her marriage in the index of Wetzel County Marriages published by the Wetzel County Genealogical Society (cited above). The information from the index was confirmed by a copy of the original record obtained from the Clerk of the County Commission (cited above). Randy also reported finding cemetery inscriptions for Mary McFann and William Hearn in Old Cemeteries of Wetzel County (publisher and publication date not provided). He later visited Sand Hill Cemetery and sent me transcriptions and pictures of the monuments.

3. Dates of birth for all the children except William were calculated from the census records.
